True, the office seemed to have a high number of no shows. But the receptionist had come highly recommended by the same recruiter who put Davis, an obstetrician, into her Bowling Green, Ky., office. And the receptionist had been a "whiz" at her job for five years.. But when the receptionist took a week's vacation one year, a whopping 12 out of 14 scheduled patients failed to show up during her first day off. Davis sat down with a telephone book and a city directory only to discover that the people in her appointment book either had never heard of her or didn't exist at all..
